We take careful consideration over each material that becomes part of our product. Instead of nylon or Cordura, we use Challenge Ultraweave or XPAC UX10 or X11. These are Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene fabrics. UHMWPE fibers are the lightest and strongest fibers commercially available, with a tensile strength 15x stronger than steel at the same weight. UHMWPE is created by a gel-spun extrusion process which draws out extremely long chains of polyethylene, aligned along a molecular backbone. This weave is blended with polyester and then laminated with an eco-friendly adhesive to a recycled polyester film, along with an "X" lattice for strength. The result is a textile that is incredibly strong, abrasion resistant, lightweight, and waterproof to 200 psi. Sometimes there is "TX" version which means there is an additional layer of 70d ripstop to add structure and stitch holding strength. These fabrics are becoming the new standard in bags and sport equipment worldwide and we are proud to offer them first in the chalkbag arena.
